“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, God, until I declare Your power to the next generation.”            Psalm 71:18

Psalm 11- David asks the proverbial question in this psalm—God, what are you doing about all the wickedness in this world? God communicates His response through David:

  1. The Lord is in His holy temple
  2. He is on His throne
  3. He sees all that’s happening
  4. He is righteous and He is just
  5. The righteous WILL see His face once:
    1. The whole story has played out
    2. The wicked will have revealed their wickedness
    3. The righteous have demonstrated their faithfulness

Psalm 41- What happens when I simply follow the directives of God regarding how I treat the people He brings into my life? “Blessed is he who has regards for the weak (also translated lowly, helpless, downcast and poor:

  1. The Lord delivers him in his time of trouble
  2. The Lord protects him and preserves his life
  3. The Lord blesses him in the land
  4. The Lord will not surrender him to the desires of his foes
  5. The Lord will sustain him on his sick bed
  6. The Lord will restore him from his bed of illness.”

Not a bad deal for just being nice to people!

Psalm 71- OK, here’s my “text for life” as I am currently experiencing it! “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I declare Your power to the next generation.” I only have a couple months left of officially being your chaplain! I plan to use every one of those days to do just that. My prayer is that you grasp that power of God and take it to the next level!

Psalm 101- David makes the details of his commitment to God clear:

  1. “I will sing of your love and justice
  2. I will sing praise
  3. I will be careful to lead a blameless life
  4. I will walk with a blameless heart
  5. I will set before my eyes no vile thing
  6. I will have nothing to do with evil
  7. I will defend the defenseless
  8. I will focus on the faithful ones of the land

Psalm 131- the 12th ascent psalm. They’re getting closer to the temple. Only three more steps to go. And the ascent up those steps through the songs appears to be making a difference. Their minds appear to be shifting from worldly worries to heavenly hope. “I will not concern myself with the things of this world, too great for me to understand. I will focus on a humble heart, a focused vision, and prioritized life around You, O God…. That will still and quiet my soul… because I have put my hope in You, both now and forevermore.”

Have a great day making that daily commitment to God,

Pastor Rich
