“Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty…”                      Revelation 15:3,4

This is the beginning of the “Song of the Lamb,” the song God’s people will sing when He comes to give us immortality and remove sinfulness from our lives, and we will THEN be perfectly restored to His image! I thought I would get a head start on learning the song!

So what are the elements of the “Song of the Lamb” that make it a special song? First, we’re going to be accompanying ourselves with harps, or stringed instruments so maybe I’ll be able to pick up my guitar again and play it as I sing! And the words of this new song go like this:

  1. “Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty
  2. Just and true are Your ways, King of the ages.
  3. Who will not respect You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name?
  4. You alone are holy and
  5. All nations will worship before You, because Your righteous acts have been revealed.”

So what did I learn as I practiced this ultimate of all praise songs this morning?

  1. As I look back I will acknowledge that what God has done and how He has done it were good.
  2. I will see that He has done the right things in the right ways for the right reasons.
  3. The evidence will be clear enough that everyone will understand and conclude that God deserves honor and glory.
  4. I will recognize that He alone is holy and no longer be distracted by my supposed “goodness”
  5. All the pieces will be presented and as God shows me that He WAS present and active in all the ways of this world and that His actions WERE right. I will only be able to fall on my knees and say, “Thank you.”

So it’s kind of like the ultimate praise song, complete with guitar and physical as well as emotional responses. Until then it may not always make sense and I make not be able to answer all the questions, but THEN it WILL all come together and make sense. Until then I’ll keep practicing this song and its message, recognizing that it IS going to all work out and I will sing about HIS deeds being great, HIS ways being true and just, HIM being worthy of my praise and respect, HIS holiness and HIS worthiness of being worshipped because HIS ways have been revealed.

Have a great day practicing the final praise song,

Pastor Rich
