“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
I start with the basics as I begin this year. John 3:16 is probably the most famous verse in the Bible, and John 3:17 has for me one of the greatest promises in the Bible. God loves me so much that He gave His life for me, which gives me eternal life--- IF--- I choose to believe and accept that.
And with today’s text I always follow my dad’s advice, “never read John 3:16 without John 3:17!” “For God did NOT send His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.” He also reminded me this morning that He is far more interested in saving me than condemning me!! He’s in the business of saving not condemning. That’s good news. That’s the truth about God that provides me with a reason again this morning to love and serve Him.
Have a great day being reminded of the basics,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “A common objection to the existence of God goes something like this: "There cannot be a God, because there is too much evil in this world."
Here's the problem with that objection. When you say there's too much evil in this world you assume there's good. When you assume there's good, you assume there's such a thing as a moral law on the basis of which to differentiate between good and evil. But if you assume a moral law, you must posit a moral Law Giver, but that's Who you're trying to disprove and not prove. Because if there's no moral Law Giver, there's no moral law. If there's no moral law, there's no good. If there's no good, there's no evil. What’s your question?” Ravi Zacharias
