“Being confident of this…” Philippians 1:6
I have found that confidence is a hard thing in which to find balance. Too little confidence can cripple me and keep me from stretching and experimenting with the next step in life. Too much confidence can destroy friendships and keep me from effectively interacting and achieving even what God has given me to do. Too little and I get walked on; too much and I walk on others; neither is good or healthy.
Have I said this before? “If it’s important to God, it’s clear in His word.”
Paul wrote to the people in Philippi and it sounds like they were on the right path toward the kingdom. “I thank my God every time I remember you in my prayers. I always pray WITH JOY because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
Not knowing ALL the details of what the future would hold, Paul at least was confident of one thing—“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” “It’s a journey; it’s a process; it doesn’t all come together at one time or seldom on demand. But one thing I do know,” says Paul. “I know that God has blessed you to this point and I know—I have confidence because of the evidence, that He will continue to bless you right up til the day Jesus comes.”
And I find comfort in that as I look at my own life too. He began a good work in me the day I gave my life to Him; probably before that day, I just didn’t know it. He has continued, through all the bumps and the good times, when I trusted Him and when I struggled with that trust. HE has been faithful and I have confidence that he will continue to be just as faithful to the end. And with that confidence in Him, I have confidence in my journey, my choices, and my life. I wish that same blessing on each of you.
Have a great day finding your confidence in Him,
Pastor Rich
