“When He appears we shall be like Him….”   1 John 3:2

OK, here’s my quick take on Last Day Theology. If you don’t know what it is, that’s probably ok, because I believe it is distracting from the gospel. If you do know what it is, then here is my simple support that keeps me from getting distracted by it. Emphasis mine!

1 John 3:2,3 says, “Dear friends, NOW we are God’s children, and what we will be has NOT YET MADE KNOWN. But we know that WHEN HE APPEARS we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him face to face. Everyone who had this hope in him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”

  1. I don’t know the future
  2. But I do know that I won’t be totally like Jesus until He appears and I see Him face to face.
  3. And it is in THAT that I put my hope
  4. And it is in THAT that I am made pure, just like Him.

So my Christian journey continues, NOT for me to attain some level of character perfection that will be adequate for me to be acceptable to Jesus, but with my whole life I want to keep seeing Jesus more clearly, knowing that I will NOT see Him perfectly until I see Him face to face at His second coming. At THAT moment I will be changed and be like Him!

Have a great day not being distracted from seeing Jesus because of your total focus on Him and not yourself,

Pastor Rich
