“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
I’m still in Zambia with Claudia. A short verse came to my mind today as I experienced the poverty and need that exists in this part of the world, and which I have not fully resolved in my own mind its existence. What I have resolved in my heart is the blessing of watching people like Dr Ang at Mwami Hospital give his whole life to making a difference. He cannot, nor can any of us, change the whole world or remove all poverty, but I can make a difference in the part of the world that I call my space, and I can impact in a positive way those whose path I cross. That’s the calling of Jesus which I choose to accept again today.
The one word in my verse for today that caught my attention and caused me to stop was the word, “desires.” I must admit, I struggle with the “desire” idea because it seems to imply to me that ANYTHING my little heart “desires” should be mine—IF, according to my verse, I “delight myself in the Lord.” Sounds like a blank check to utopia through just a “little thing” like “delighting in the Lord!” I “delight;” He give me EVERYTHING I want!
My solution to that confusing concept came when I wrote in the margin of my Bible, “because the desire of my heart is only to bring delight to the Lord.” When I “delight myself in the Lord,” it’s safe for Him to give me “the desires of my heart, “ BECAUSE the desires of my heart are ONLY to delight myself in Him. It’s all about Him and not about me! And that, apparently, according to David’s understanding of God, is a safe place for God to endorse His blank check for my desires!
All I really want to do Lord, is to find delight in and for You, so the only things I need from You will be those things that cause me to find that delight in and for You. The guarantee is that I get WHATEVER is it that accomplishes that goal. Pretty good deal I’d say!
Have a great day discovering more about “delighting in the Lord,”

Quote for the day: "When you say 'There's too much evil in this world', you assume there's 'good'. When you assume there's good, you assume there's such a thing as a 'moral law' on the basis of which to differentiate between good and evil. But if you assume a moral law, you must posit a 'Moral-Law Giver', but that's Who you're trying to disprove and not prove. Because if there's no Moral-Law Giver, there's no moral law. If there's no moral law, there's no good. If there's no good, there's no evil. What is your question?" Ravi Zacharias
