“And this is my prayer…”        Philippians 1:9

I found a little more help in understanding prayer this morning from Paul as I continued my journey with him in his letter to the believers in Philippi. He already said he “remembered them daily in his prayers,” and that that brought him “great joy.” So what else did he pray about?

  1. “that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.”
  2. “that you may be filled with the fruit of righteousness.”

Two things Paul prayed for as he thought about his friends- that they would understand more fully and be filled more completely with knowing and following Jesus.

And he prayed this “SO THAT:

  1. you may be able to discern what is best
  2. and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.”

Remember yesterday? He talked about God’s faithfulness TO me, “until the day of Christ Jesus.” Now he asks the same FROM me, “to keep on discerning what is best, what is pure and what is blameless until the day of Christ Jesus.” And that became my challenge for today; as He continues working in me, I will continue growing in Him, following Him SO THAT I can know what is best and do only that which is pure SO THAT I am blameless in His eyes when He comes.

Have a great day focusing on the best and the purest in life,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others.” Thank a teacher today!
