“For the grace of God, that brings salvation, has appeared to all men. It teaches them…” Titus 2:11-14
First, God’s grace brings salvation. That is essential to accept before tackling the rest of the verse.
Second, that grace has “appeared” or has been given to ALL people. We all are offered God’s grace AND His salvation if we want it.
Third, that grace also “teaches me” to do two things:
Ungodliness
Worldly passions
Self-controlled
Upright
Godly
While I wait for the blessed hope, which is the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
He first gives me grace, then assurance of salvation. THEN He challenges me to live my life like those two things were important to me while I wait for His salvation to become a reality. I live a purified life BECAUSE I have a redeemed life. It’s that clear and simple.
Have a great day responding appropriately to God’s grace,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “There are essential issues which need to be addressed and nonessentials in which freedom to hold diverse views must be allowed. Above all, there should be a commitment to open dialogue particularly in those areas in which the teaching of Scripture may be interpreted in more than one way.” Philip Towner
