Subject: It's March 3; Good Morning Union

“Sing joyfully to the Lord… praise Him… with a new song… play skillfully… even shout for joy if you need to… just keep praising Him and putting your hope in Him because of His unfailing love.”          Psalm 33

Psalm 3- Written when David had just fled the rebellion of his son Absolom, this psalm expresses the pain of what was happening and David’s undying trust in his God through it all. Focus on the solution not the problem!

Psalm 33- A song of praise with the emphasis on music as a means of expressing that praise. Use your voice, use your musical instruments, use whatever you have, David says, to praise the Lord. And he gives me two reasons to do this in this psalm

  1. Because God made everything, and if He made it He knows how to remake it as needed
  2. Because He watches over me and cares for me, in the good and bad as I put my trust in Him.

Psalm 63- And if I need a song to sing, this psalm reminds me of a praise song. Remember it? “O God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you. (repeat). And I will seek you in the morning, and I will learn to trust in your name. And step by step you’ll lead me, and I will follow you all of my days.” That song came from this psalm!!

Psalm 93- Praising Him can lead to a new or renewed realization of His power in my life. This psalm uses some of the most powerful agents of the natural world to describe God’s power.

Psalm 123- This is the fourth step on the ascent to the Temple and the people here would acknowledge that one of the reasons they were going to the house of God was their need to focus their attention on their Creator and not on their crises. “I lift up my eyes to YOU whose throne is in heaven….”

I choose to take my journey through the psalms using this “every 30th psalm” approach because the psalms are a compilation of songs that appear to me in some ways just randomly assembled. I like to get a variety each morning so I pick my 5 for each day from the whole book rather than just 5 in a row. My way is not “right,” it’s just a different way to approach it. Try what works for you; I just want to encourage you to be blessed by the songs/psalms.

Have a great day finding your worship with God through this “hymnal” in the middle of the Bible,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, trusting Him during a trial, surrendering while suffering, and loving Him when He seems distant.” Rick Warren
