“When we could stand it no longer…” 1 Thessalonians 3:1 and 5
Interesting choice of words Paul uses to describe his emotions regarding the people he loved so dearly back in Thessalonica. “I couldn’t take it any longer, “Paul says. “I told you that the good news I was sharing with you would bring persecution, and it did. I had to leave but my heart is still with you. When I couldn’t stand it any longer I had to send Timothy to make sure everything was ok with you.” That’s a pastor’s heart!
“I was afraid that the tempter might have distracted you and destroyed all that God had given to you. Imagine my joy when Timothy came back and told me about your faith and love. I can’t thank God enough that he is bringing you through even the toughest of times.”
That’s not just the heart of a pastor; that’s the heart of any believer as I prioritize life around the calling God places on my heart and I respond by giving my life and caring for those God’s brings into my life. And here’s the prayer Paul prayed for the people he had given his life to; it’s a great guide for me too as I do the same. “May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. AND may He strengthen your hearts SO THAT you may be found blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father WHEN our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones.”
Have a great day seeing, experiencing and then demonstrating the love and power of God in your life,
Pastor Rich
