“If my people will… then I will.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Logan shared this verse at V2 last Sabbath evening. It was my reminder of a favorite verse that I haven’t looked at in some time so I thought I would write about it this morning.
I like “if-then” texts; they just seem to clarify so many things in applying God’s word to my life. Today’s text is good example. God asks four clear things of me and offers three great things in return:
“IF My people will:
THEN I will:
Here’s my ah-ha this morning at I read this verse. The four things God asks of me are very clear. They don’t get me more saved or more loved but they do help clear the path for a better connection with God. The three things He offers to me are not exactly contingent on me doing my four things because God is so merciful sometimes He gives them to me even when I haven’t successfully given my four back to Him. My four things just makes it easier to see what He is always ready and willing to do IF I let Him.
If I choose NOT to do my four things I don’t necessarily forfeit God’s three things; I just won’t be able to see the availability of them as easily and then I have to flounder on my own too much. He’s still willing to hear, forgive and heal; I just won’t know it because I’ve allowed distractors to get in the way. My four can be summed up in two- pride and selfishness; the same things that took Lucifer down in the beginning are still the same distractors from grasping all that God wants to do for me today. I need to choose. God’s always there with His three promises. I have to decide how clearly I want to receive them.
Thanks Logan, for a great reminder of a great verse,
Have a great day deciding to choose the four to get the three more easily,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “There’s a fine line between a numerator and a denominator. Only a fraction of you will understand this.”
PS Adventist Accreditation Association (AAA) representatives are on campus today. This is a group of educators and administrators from our Church who have been tasked with looking at Union College to determine if we are being true to who and what we say we are. They will be here for three days so if you see some guests exploring our campus be your friendly selves! YOU are the ones who will most accurately display the “Union Spirit.” Thanks
