Subject: GMU: Dying Prayers

Good morning, Beautiful People!

I am constantly irritated by my unintentional and unoriginal prayers. Stop me if you have heard this one before, “God, thank you for this day . . . bless us . . . and please be with [insert name or situation here].” There is nothing wrong with asking God for blessings or thanking Him for his goodness. My problem is centered on a habitual trait that I have assimilated through traditional prayers—an inaccurate picture of God’s presence and sovereignty. God doesn’t need me to make Him aware of people’s problems or my issues. He is God. Prayer, at times, becomes an informative session where I prescribe to God a list of problems that need His attention versus spending time with my Abba-Father. I have decided to fall in love with prayer again. I have decided to pray like Jesus in that I seek to join God where He is already ministering. I chose prayer to become a catalyst for change, and most importantly, an intimate, uninterrupted, vulnerable talk with my God.  When Jesus prayed, He asked the Father, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me” (John 17:21)! My prayer today is this, “Jesus, my one desire is to be one with You. Please let me join You in wherever you are working today, amen.”

Have a great day in intentional prayer.
