Great Power
Beautiful People, good morning!
My favorite superhero is Spiderman. An iconic quote synonymous with the hero is “with great power comes great responsibility.” Power is the ability to accomplish our aspirations. Power makes possible our heart’s desires. Yesterday, we discussed the importance of rooting and building our will on God. We discovered that God wills and produces goodness in our lives. As disciples of Christ, we are called to submit, entrust, and thrive in God’s love. Today, I submit to you that God provides GREAT POWER to accomplish His GREAT WILL. Such power demands great responsibility. God gives us the power to do His will and calls us to greater responsibility—to love our neighbor. Power without love is destructive and self-centered. Let me explain. Jesus demonstrated His power not by a display of force but by sacrificial, unconditional, divine love. The Father’s will for His Son was the Cross, and through Christ’s love, we have redemption and salvation.
The power to accomplish God’s will is balanced with God’s gift of sacrificial, unconditional, divine love. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). Today, we have the opportunity to live in God’s power and love. We have the chance to rely on God’s great power and share in the great responsibility of loving and caring for our neighbors. We have the power to love. In other words, we have the power to be a hero today, not like Spiderman, but like Christ.
Have a great day living in the power and love of Jesus Christ, our beautiful Savior, and Hero.
