Subject: GMU: The Faithfulness of Jesus Christ

Beautiful People,

Welcome to the start of another beautiful year. If I haven’t had the privilege of meeting you, my name is PK; I am the chaplain here at Union College. As you start your day, I want to leave a small devotional thought for you.

I love how Jesus strengthens our faith journey. He turns to His disciples and says, “Let us go over to the other side” (Mark 4:35), knowing that a furious squall will impede their journey; however, the command is still true, “we will get to the other side.” Starting a new school year can be intimidating, especially if you aren’t ready to get into the “boat.” There is a temptation to question the validity of Christ’s commandment and assurance that we will get to the other side; however, the furious squall can persuade us to doubt and shrink back in faith. The furious squall can be financial difficulties, uncertainty, fear of a lack of acceptance and belonging, burnout, timidity, and a perceived lack of competency; you name it.
However you are feeling today, Jesus has an answer to your furious squall. That answer is, “Quiet! Peace be still.” When Christ called you to Union, He knew of all the storms that may come across your journey. Your call was joined with a promise, “We will get to the other side.” Once the furious squall was dull, He turned to His disciples and said, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” What will get us to the other side is not the strength of our faith but in whom we put our faith in. The faithfulness of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, will carry us to the other side of this day, year, and journey. Wherever you find yourself today, put your faith in the faithfulness of Jesus Christ, and He will carry you through to the other side.

I hope you have a great day pondering and living in the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.

P.S. I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow, 8/22, for our first uGather at College View Church at 10:35 AM.
