No classes today but I still want to share a GMU with you!
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” John 3:16
My dad used to say to me, “Never quote John 3:16 without including John 3:17!! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” God loved so much that He gave, AND He did NOT give so He could condemn, but because He wanted to save.
That seems like such a simple obvious belief about the absolute love of God, but how often does my relationship with God, or Christianity, or the Church, get translated into life as more condemnation than confirmation of the assurance I can have in Him?
If my connection with Christ is more about condemnation than confirmation then I have a wrong picture of God. This has to be an “absolute” in this journey called Christianity. God loves me; God wants to save me; God has done everything necessary for that to happen; and God offers it FREELY to me (and anyone else who wants it--- ANYONE ELSE!) Any questions?!
Have a great day in absolute confidence in God’s offer of salvation,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “Life becomes easier when you learn to accept an apology you never got.”
PS This might be a good chance for you to go outside and get some sunshine and fresh air! It’s supposed to be a beautiful, warm, and sunny day! Don’t forget we have a frisbee golf course set up on front campus. Pick up a frisbee and scorecard from the Ortner desk or on the table outside Campus Ministries and go have some fun with friends. It starts by the Jesus statue. Look west and you’ll see a yellow 1 on a tree. All you have to do is count how many throws to takes to hit the yellow numbers! There are 18 trees marked on front campus. Have fun, enjoy the outdoors, lower your stress, be with friends! Sunshine can help build your immunity too so it’s good in the fight against COVID!!
