“Being confident of this…”      Philippians 1:6

I didn’t even get through the next text from what I wrote about last Friday before God gave me something this morning!! I never cease to be amazed and blessed as I write GMUs each morning (now for 22+ years!) that NEVER has He failed me!! I’ve saved all my old GMUs but I have never “cut and pasted” from and old one. Like Lamentations 3:22-23 says,The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (oops! I probably should have saved that verse for another morning GMU!)

Anyway, back to Philippians! If you are old enough to remember recording artist Steve Green, he brought this verse to music and I still sing it sometimes in my quiet times. From last week’s beginning of this letter, Paul found great joy in the Christian friends he chose to fellowship with, even if they were in Greece and he was in Italy! He loved them, he prayed for them, and he believed in them BECAUSE they believed in God, and God had great plans for their journey!

“Here’s why I am full of joy and have confidence,” said Paul. Because “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” They were his friends, not because they were perfect, but because they were allowing God to be their Guide in the journey of life. Most of life is still unknown but, as Paul said to Timothy in another letter, “I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 (one of my favorite verses!)

Christian friends have decided to follow Jesus, and Jesus has committed to being with them. And the best part of Steve Green’s song and Paul message is the “He who began this journey… with stay with me all the way to the end, when I see Jesus face to face.”

Thank you Jesus for that promise; thank you all my Christian friends for bringing joy to my heart as I see your faithfulness to Him lived out every day of your life.

Have a great day experiencing the greatness of His faithfulness,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “Life is full of give and take-Give thanks, and take nothing for granted.”
