“The righteous will live by His faithfulness.”  Habakkuk 2:4

I’m not a movie watcher, but I do still like the old black and white film just simply called, “Martin Luther.” I love the scene where he discovers his freedom in Christ as he reads Romans 1:17. The melodramatic music builds as he slowly reads the verse, “The just shall live, by faith,” and then writes in big bold letters in the margin of that oversized Bible—“SOLA!” ALONE! Yes, he even underlines it!!

That verse changed his life and history as the reformation began. As I read it this morning I saw again in the margin of my Bible the reference Habakkuk 2:4, so I looked it up again because I remember how that verse changed my life, and my future understanding of God and grace. Paul, in Romans, quoted from Habakkuk—almost! Paul said, “The just shall live by faith;” Mr Habakkuk said, “The just shall live by HIS faithfulness!” So what changed my life? Romans seemed to always imply that it’s MY faith that makes me just so I can live. Habakkuk reminds me that it’s not MY faith but HIS faithfulness that makes me just and give me life. It’s not at all about me; it’s ALL about Him- His righteousness; His faithfulness; His love; His mercy…. It’s all about Him!

Thanks Martin, and Paul, and Habakkuk for your reminder this morning.

Have a great day being reminded of HIS faithfulness,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “Being male is a matter of birth. Being a man is a matter of age. But being a Christian gentleman is a matter of choice.”

PPS      Adventist Christian Theatre- (A repertoire theatre company)

Adventist Christian Theatre is a head, heart and hands-on experience with the gospel. We are putting together a team to perform here at Union and in local churches of all denominations around Union College. We utilize the performing styles of skitting, sketches, improv and video to present powerful portraits of Jesus and the Christian experience. To learn more come to an information Wednesday, Sept-11 at 6:30 p.m. in Woods Auditorium.

PPPS   We have 7 Adventist churches in the Lincoln area and I would like to introduce them all to you. College View is a great church and VERY supportive of our Union family. But if it seems too large to you then I’ll suggest some other options over the next few days.

Today I’ll feature the Lincoln Hispanic Church. I just heard from their pastor and they are willing to “adopt” students, especially Hispanic students who might like to attend church in their mother language. They’ll provide transportation and a delicious warm Hispanic Sabbath lunch each Sabbath to all who wish to attend. If you are interested contact Pastor Alejandro Dovald
