“Not one of the Lord’s good promises failed; every one was filled.” Joshua 21:45

Just reading through the book of Joshua (and not finding much to write about!), I came upon this rather obscure text and my ah-ha moment for the morning. Joshua and the people had accomplished what God had commanded; they had taken back the Promised Land—the land promised and given to Abraham about 600 years before! They were finally home.

THAT is the context for my verse this morning! GOD HAD BEEN FAITHFUL, just like He said He would be! It came after MANY bumps in the road and bruises on the body. It came after many lessons learned the hard way, and many miracles that made it unmistakably clear who God was. It came with victories and defeats. It took longer than any of them had probably hoped. BUT IT CAME!! God WAS faithful!! He wins in the end!

And so I look at my life this morning and see such an amazing parallel. God HAS been faithful to me too. There have been (and continue to be) bumps and bruises; there have been (and continue to be) lessons learned the hard way and clear evidences of His leading; there have been victories and defeats. But He’s still my God and I’m still His child, and because He won everything important in life when He died on the cross and rose again, I am guaranteed that I will win as I stay committed and connected to Him. Not one of His good promises will fail; every one of them either have been or will be fulfilled. That assurance and confidence is all the anchor I need to keep on keeping on with Him!

Have a great and confident day in your God,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “Three options for safety on the roads:

  1. Ignore all signs and drive like you wish
  2. Read the signs but don’t bother obeying them
  3. (Pretty obvious the last one)—Read and obey the signs

Under which circumstance would you and I be safest? I wonder if the same applies to God’s Word?”
