“Peace I leave with you…”      John 14:27

Jesus is coming close to the end of his earthly ministry. He’s trying to encourage His disciples with hope. Hope in His return (see vs 1-3); hope in Him (see vs 6-7); hope in the Holy Spirit (see vs 16) who will “teach you, and guide you, and help you remember everything I have told you,” (see vs 25).

“SO,” said Jesus, “don’t let your hearts be troubled and don’t be afraid…. My Father is great than I… and He loves you. So do exactly as He says and you’ll be fine.” (see vs 28-31). And THAT’S, I’ve discovered, how He “leaves me with peace.” Remember who I am (“The Way, the Truth, and the Life), remember My plan (“I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am there you may be also.”) Remember My support system while you are waiting (“God will send you the Holy Spirit in My name,”) and remember that He is capable of doing that and so much more because (“the Father is greater than I,”) Remember your marching orders, (“do exactly as My Father commands,”) and remember He’s trustworthy because He loves you.

“And with that, and through that, and because of that,” says Jesus, “I leave you with My perfect peace.”

Have a great day experiencing God’s and Jesus’, and the Holy Spirit’s “perfect peace,”

Pastor Rich
