“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, no mind has conceived…” Isaiah 64:4
That’s a pretty expanded and amazing picture of a possibility that is beyond comprehension!! It ends with, this is what “What God has prepared for those who love Him.” Two things I learn from this verse this morning:
That’s a pretty good deal; almost too good to be true. But what do I have to lose? I simply have to love Him and move my focus from trying to fix all the wrongs and the evils in this world to fixating on the God who has something far greater that the best this world can offer. I can get so distracted even in my best moments when I believe that I can make this world a good place, when the only thing that is going to fix this world is Jesus when He changes infectious sinfulness that dominates humanity and replaces it with a new heart. I will still do what I can to ensure that whatever in this world I can affect I will affect for good, while realizing that the evil cannot go away until Jesus comes, so I choose to focus even more on that latter event.
A song came to me this morning as I was out walking and it’s still there!
“We have an Anchor that keeps the soul,
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.”
I pray every day for this Anchor in my life and in yours. That I have practiced making it “steadfast and sure” for when the junk of this world seems overwhelming. I pray that you and I will “fasten” ourselves to that Rock because It does not move. And I pray that you and I are “grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.”
I’ll do what I can to make this world a better place, but not get so distracted by the futility of that goal that I forget that God has prepared something my eye has never seen, my ear has never heard, and my mind cannot conceive--- and it’s available for ALL who love Him.
Have a great day being blown away today by the possibilities available with Jesus,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it. “ Madeleine L’Engle
