“The righteous man walks with integrity, blessed are his children after him.           Proverbs 20:7

Disclaimer: My verse for today is not my current attainment but my perpetual focus and goal!

Sorry, today you’re all my “kids!” I was looking this morning though the things I have written in my Bible and came across a list called “Prayer for my boys.” In case you don’t know my wonderful wife and I have three grown “boys,” three dear daughters-in-law, and 8 “growing up too fast” grandchildren! I have lived my life for my family and for you; those are my two greatest joys in my life. As I reflected on this list, written YEARS ago, I realized that I could title it “Prayer for my students” and it would fit just as well.

I was also reminded of another text that keeps me focused, Psalm 71:18 (71, because that’s how old I’ll be in a few weeks; and 18, because that not too far from how old you all are! THAT’S how I remember where it’s found!) “Even when I am old and grey, don’t let me die God, until I have declared Your power to the next generation.” That’s what gets me out of bed every day- my boys (and their lovely wives!), my grandchildren, and YOU!

Here’s the prayer I wrote in my Bible. “Lord, what I want for my boys, (my grandchildren and my students) is:

  1. An assured saving faith
  2. An always growing faith
  3. An independent faith
  4. To be strong and healthy in mind, body and spirit
  5. For a sense of purpose and destiny
  6. For a desire for integrity
  7. For a call to excellence in whatever they do
  8. To understand the calling God has for their lives
  9. That I will set aside time to spend specifically with them
  10. That they acquire wisdom more than knowledge
  11. Protection from drugs, alcohol, and premarital sex
  12. The mate God has for them
  13. That they will glorify God in everything they do
  14. That they will have the courage to stand alone PRN (as needed!)
  15. That they will love God more than anything in this world
  16. That I will be able to demonstrate righteous/saved living, BY You; THROUGH me, TO & FOR them

Thanks for being my “kids” as I pray daily for you all.

Have a great day focusing on God’s best for you,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:           Charlie Chaplin lived 88 years

He left us 4 statements:

(1) Nothing is forever in this world, not even our problems.

(2) I love walking in the rain because no one can see my tears.

(3) The most lost day in life is the day we don't laugh.

(4) Six best doctors in the world...:

1. The sun

2. Rest

3. Exercise

4. Diet

5. Self-respect

6. Friends

Stick to them at all stages of your life and enjoy a healthy life...

If you see the moon, you will see the beauty of God...

If you see the sun, you will see the power of God...

If you see a mirror, you will see God's best creation. So believe it.
