Subject: It's November 17; Good Morning Union

A friend reminded me last week of Psalm 17, so I went there this morning, consistent with the idea of reading the psalm or the proverb of the date. November 17; Psalm 17, and here’s the pleading of the poet starting in verse 6:

“I call on you, my God, for You will answer me; turn Your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of Your great love, You who save by Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings.”

  1. I can call on God because He PROMISES to hear and answer me. Sometimes I don’t feel like it but past experience reminds me that He does. Sometimes I don’t like the answer but past experience reminds me that He does know best and He is in charge.
  2. I can ask Him to help me see, especially when I might not be seeing so well because I can get distracted by life, how true are His promises that He loves me and takes care of me when I take refuge in Him.
  3. I can thank Him because no matter what the circumstances in life I AM still the apple of His eye and He WILL hide me in the shadow of His wings. I confirm that on all the good days SO THAT I can remember it on the tough days.

I thank God today, and every day, even the tough days, that I CAN call on Him, I CAN ask Him, and I CAN thank Him for assurance in His love, guidance in His word, and confidence in His commitment to our relationship, no matter what comes.

Have a great day, as Chris Blake wrote, “Searching for a God to Love,” with the promise of God through Jeremiah, “If you search for Me you will find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart,”

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “The Christian is the most content person in the world; he is also the least content person in the world. Like a good traveler, he is content with the motel but looking forward to getting home.”
