“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous…”           Psalm 34:15

Two absolute assurances in dad’s text for today:

  1. His eyes are on us
  2. His ears hear us

I don’t always understand what He is seeing or what He is hearing, because His responses mystify me sometimes. But when I take the time to look deeper at my “understanding,” I usually discover that my confusion is often wrapped up in me wanting Him to see what I want him to see and to hear what I want him to hear (and to do what I want Him to do!). And I want Him to interpret what He sees and hears in a way that is acceptable to me. And that’s what usually causes my confusion.

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, I believe one of the biggest challenges in finding a consistent path on my journey with Jesus ultimately comes back to one thing—do I want to be blessed by God’s leading or do I want God to bless my leadings? Is He the Lord of my life and the One whom I believe knows best, or is He my “genie-in-a-prayer-bottle” waiting to grant me whatever wishes I have?

He DOES see, from a Godly-view; He DOES hear, with Godly ears; and He DOES respond as He knows best, all things considered as only He can see “all things.” My role is to connect with Him closely enough that I more clearly see His leading and have learned in the good times that He is trustworthy and will continue to be trustworthy.

Earlier in this same psalm are these words:

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who respect and honor Him AND HE DELIVERS THEM.” That’s the promise. And here’s the challenge in the next verse, “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the person who takes refuge in Him…. If you seek Him you will lack no good thing!” If I try Him out I can be delivered; if I seek Him I can lack no good thing; if I trust Him, and not me, I can know that He sees, hears, AND responds in the way HE knows is best for my life. Pretty good deal I’d say!

Have a great day discovering his absolute love and leading in your life—according to HIS will,

Pastor Rich
