Truth

Beautiful People,

Falsehood is toxic and diminishes our perception of reality. Cultivating a character of truth frees us from fallacies and counterfeits manufactured by the Devil, the flesh, and the world. The love of truth demands a radical shift in nature that opposes all levels of falsehood. To cultivate and love the truth is the work of the Holy Spirit. I love how God has made it difficult for us not to be saved. Think about it, all the agencies of Heaven are available to us to live a life that reflects the character of Christ. The decision to put off falsehood and embrace the truth is a product of accepting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of Christ, we have the power to live in truth and not settle for falsehoods.

It’s an exciting and empowering thought to know that God is serious about cultivating truth, love, and righteousness in our hearts. What wondrous love is this that we have the ability, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to put off falsehood and live as people of integrity. Our integrity in Christ spills over to how we treat each other. “Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body” (Ephesians 4:25). The command to put off falsehood is not just a reflection of the Holy Spirit’s work in us; it also reflects the Body of Christ. In other words, our characterological actions paint a picture of the God we serve and the community that we are affiliated with.
