“Show me… teach me… guide me….” Psalm 25:4
Day 13—only one more day!
I like Psalm 25. It’s just such an honest and open communication between David and God. My prayer life currently is not asking for very many things because I struggle so much with asking selfishly for myself. I don’t think it’s wrong to ask; I’m just currently choosing to focus on a more positive communication with God that includes more thank yous than give mes!
I do find it helpful however to see what David asked for in his prayer time with God. He starts with acknowledging God as God and his commitment to trusting God rather than himself. Then he did ask for things- things like:
Show me Your way
Teach me Your path through life
Guide me in Your truth
Forgive me- for Your sake so I don’t keep making You look bad by my choices
What he asked for was all about following God and not about finding a genie. Then he ends with a return to his commitment that God is in charge and that reminds him of God’s graciousness, His protection, His presence, and His covenant commitment that He will always be there. Thanks David for a reminder of a healthy other-centered way to pray.
Have a great day communicating in a healthy way with your God,
Pastor Rich
Quote for the day: “When God calls us to step out of our comfort zone, He is not calling us to be comfortable in the situation, He is calling us to be comfortable in Him in spite of the situation.”
