Subject: It's September 27; Good Morning Union

“For God so loved me, that He gave His one and only Son, SO THAT if I believe in Him I will have eternal life.”            John 3:16 personalized

My morning walk is very important to me. It’s my “think time,” “reflection time,” “meditation time,” “alone with God time.” It usually begins, especially now that it’s dark in the morning, by looking up at the sky and spotting the constellation Orion and remembering David’s comment when he did the same. “When I consider the heavens, the works of your hands, the moon and the stars which You have set in place, what am I that You care for me?” Which brings me to my first ah-ha of the day— I think His response is, “But you do!” And all I can do is say, “Thank you.”

I then start quoting, out loud but only loud enough for me to hear, whatever piece of Scripture that comes to mind. In that process I am letting go of whatever has been consuming my life and thoughts, and see what then fills my mind. It used to be kind of scary; now it’s exciting. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I let it. Sometimes I quote Scripture the whole way; sometimes I get through one verse and something captures me as I move into the “think… reflect… meditate” time. That’s where a lot of GMU’s come from (like today’s that I am just about to write!)

This morning a song came to me; maybe you’ve heard it before--- “Jesus love me this I know, for the Bible tells me so!” I saw four truths in that song that reminded me that Cradle Roll Sabbath School is NOT the only place to sing it!

  1. “Jesus love me this I know”- ABSOLUTE assurance of God’s love
  2. “For the Bible tells me so”- ABSOLUTE confidence in His Word
  3. “Little ones to Him belong”- ABSOLUTE inclusion of ALL His children
  4. “I am weak but HE is strong.”- ABSOLUTE confession of my need of Him

It’s a great song, with a great message; the simplest yet most complex truths every known or needed in my journey toward the kingdom. If it’s important to God, it’s clear in His word, and in Cradle Roll Sabbath School!

Have a great day singing His truth today,

Pastor Rich
