“For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” 1 Corinthians 1:25
Welcome back! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving break and are ready for the last two weeks of classes!
I saw this text in my quiet time with God over the break and was reminded of what MY accomplishments are compared to God’s. It’s a good reality check when I get tempted to think that MY attainments are worthy of too much attention. It’s ok to achieve and it’s ok to acknowledge those achievements, as long as I keep them in perspective.
Paul was reminding the people in Corinth back then, and he was reminding me this morning of how to keep it all in perspective. God’s foolishness is wiser than my wisdom and His weakness is stronger than my strength. Not that God is either foolish or weak, but I found Paul’s contrasting comparison a good reminder for me today.
I thought of two other text this morning while writing that reminded me that God’s wisdom and strength, which is SO far above mine, is available to me! That’s the kind of God He is. James says, “If anyone lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives to all people liberally.” And in his other letter to the church in Corinth Paul reminds them (and me), that “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in your weakness… For when I am weak, then I am strong”—in HIM.
So He may not be foolish or weak, but all that God is He offers to me!! Pretty good deal I’d say.
Have a great day knowing and acknowledging His strength,
Pastor Rich
