He is Light

Beautiful People,

Christ’s radical revelations of His character and mission were either ludicrous or factual. C.S. Lewis sums it best, “Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse.” I believe that Christ is the Son of God and that His words are true. Take into account what He says in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Unfortunately, a secular and individualistic society does not readily accept Christ’s declarative statement of truth because the closer we get to Christ, the further we walk away from darkness.

What do we do in the darkness? Well, anything and everything that we deem is right. However, Christ’s presence in our lives illuminates character deficits undetectable in the dark. The invitation is clear, “I am light, come walk in the light.” The grace of Christ invites us to walk in the presence of God without condemnation, fear, guilt, or shame. As we walk with Christ, His light will purify our hearts and give us life. But how? Christ answers the how by saying, “whoever follows Me” through love. Jesus is not a ludicrous historical figure or madman; He is God. His invitation to follow Him is as real as the next breath you just took. Jesus is light, and He invites us to live in His light.
