“Behold I stand at the door and knock…”      Revelation 3:20

I’m just finishing up reading the New Testament in conjunction with my class this semester and I can’t pass up this familiar text. John just finished describing his vision of the seven churches and concludes with this verse. There are multiple explanations or interpretations for this vision, the two main ones are historical and individual. Historically John may be describing the spiritual growth and development of the universal church through the ages. Spiritually he may be describing the spiritual state of people within the church. Either way, my ha-ha moment came this morning as I saw the word “anyone” circled in my Bible.

“Behold I stand at the door and knock. If ANYONE hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with Me.” ANYONE- who’s left out from that invitation? It doesn’t matter who I am or what I’ve done; I respond and I’m in!

Lord, thank you for the all-inclusive invitation an for the opportunity today to share that hope with someone.
