“I keep asking…”         Ephesians 1:17

Written by Paul while under house arrest in Rome, the letter to the church in Ephesus has again brought balance in my prayer journey as I read it this weekend. I continue in the mode of “thanking” more than “asking” in my prayer life, but I saw in this letter one significant role in asking—asking not for myself but for those I have been called to love and serve.

Paul “kept asking” that God would give the people in Ephesus:

  1. The Spirit of wisdom and revelation,” SO THAT, they “might know Him better.” I will continue to be thankful, and will also continue to ASK that God give you that Spirit of wisdom SO THAT YOU might know Jesus better.
  2. The vision, “that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened SO THAT you may know” three things:
  1. “The HOPE to which He called you
  2. The RICHES of His glorious inheritance, and
  3. His incomparably great POWER”

So I’ll keep being thankful, and will also continue to ASK that you may see His hope, His riches, and His power.

  1. The presence, “that out of His glorious riches (which I prayed in #2 that you get!) He may:
  1. Strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being SO THAT
  2. Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith”

So I’ll keep being thankful, and will also continue to ASK that you experience the power of God and His presence in your lives.

  1. The power, “being rooted and established in love… and have the power to grasp:
  1. How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ
  2. How this love surpasses knowledge
  3. The measure of all the fullness of God offered in Christ.”

So I’ll keep being thankful, and will also continue to ASK that you grasp the greatness of the God who loves you and me and everyone else.

I’ll keep being thankful but I continue to add to my “asks” as I ask for things for YOU as you continue your journey with Jesus.

Have a great day discovering all that I am asking in prayer for you,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “God gave us freedom of choice but He does not give us the right or freedom to determine outcomes or consequences.”
