“Make a joyful noise to the Lord…”    Psalm 100

I’m reminded of this verse most every time I open my mouth to sing, which I do quite often—when I’m alone and no one can hear me!! In my Bible it has a subtitle “A psalm (or song because that’s basically what ‘psalm’ means) for giving thanks.” As I recited this song this morning I was actually captured first by the conclusion or the “reason” to give thanks. “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.

SOOOO… BECAUSE He is good, loving and faithful the psalmist gives seven ways that I can give thanks:

1. “Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth
2. Serve the Lord with gladness
3. Come before Him with joyful songs
4. Know that the Lord is God
   1. It is He who made us
   2. We are His
   3. We are His people
   4. We are the sheep of His pasture
5. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise
6. Give thanks to Him
7. Praise His name.”

BECAUSE He is good, loving and faithful, I choose today to shout and serve and come before Him and know and enter His gates and give Him thanks and praise His name!! Focusing on HIM, and only Him, gives me plenty to praise.
