Subject: It's September 23; Good Morning Union
“And EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Joel 2:32
One more minor prophet this morning just to remind myself that their messages were valuable to the people to whom they wrote AND to me today and to everyone in between. In fact, today’s verse was also used by Peter when he preached at that first Pentecost after Jesus’s death and resurrection (‘Acts 2:21).
It was a good reminder to me this morning that God’s unfailing, undying love for me is also available, and has always been available, to everyone throughout the ages. No exceptions; no hidden agenda; everyone, always, no matter what—“EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved.” If it has always been true, then it is true today just as much as back “then.” And so, that includes me—and you, this morning!
After all the “qualifiers” I sometimes put on prayer, like, “In His timing… if it’s His will… according to His plans…” Well, here’s one that has no exceptions and no qualifiers. This prayer I KNOW He answers in just the way I pray it. “Lord, I call on You to save me.” And His answer is, “It’s done My child.” And all I can say is, “Thank you. I love you.” And then I see “more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents…” (Luke 15:7)
