“Teach me your ways O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth…”           Psalm 86:11

One of the verses I use every day as part of my morning time with God. As I being each day I pray 4 verses of Scripture back to God. This is one of them. I must submit to God as my teacher before anyone else because I want to walk in HIS truth and not necessarily what my society defines at truth.

The second part of the verse adds, “Give me an undivided heart, that I might honor Your name.” Nothing I want more in my life than to “honor God’s name,” and it comes with my commitment to offer Him my whole heart; not just part of it, the whole thing.

Another text that I have been learning gives me direction in how to attain to the “undivided heart” status. Ezekiel says God will give me an “undivided heart,” (11:19) AND He will “put a new Spirit within me.” If it’s important to God, it’s clear in His word. I don’t have to muster up the strength and determination to achieve and “undivided heart,” David asks for it in Psalms, and Ezekiel quotes God as saying, “I’ll give it to you.” And the evidence that it’s transforming my life, and I’m becoming more “undivided” toward Him, is defined in the rest of the verse as, “following and keeping God’s law.” I focus on following Him; He focuses on fixing me. I ask Him to teach me, then I follow what He shows me. I ask for an undivided heart, and He says, “I’ll give it to you; just follow Me.”

Have a great day following as He leads,

Pastor Rich
