“That which we have seen and heard we proclaim to you.”  1 John 1:3

Here’s a piece of the secret of connecting with Jesus that I continue to develop for my life. “It is in working to spread the good news of salvation that we are brought near to the Savior.” DA 340. Said backwards, which usually is the way I see things better, if I want to be brought near to the Savior, I will do the work of spreading the good news of salvation. We used to call it “witnessing;” I continue to look for more palatable words! How about what Jesus said to the two demoniacs who, after being delivered from Satan’s power, wanted to go with Him, but He said to them, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” That’s all. They had hear NO sermon from Jesus, they did not have the experience of being trained by Jesus like the disciples had. They had ONLY experienced the reality of forgiveness and freedom. “NOW,” said Jesus, “just go and tell those who will listen all that that Father has done for you.”

I first need to stop long enough to realize the reality of Jesus’ work in my life SO THAT I can simply tell others about that experience. It’s moving from theory, to reality, to expression. THAT is the process of connecting to Jesus. As my verse for today says, I proclaim to you ONLY “that which I have seen and heard.” So, I continue connecting with Jesus by stopping, looking, and listening to His reality in my life, and then “going home, or school, or office, or wherever, and telling how much God has done for me.”

Have a great day discovering the blessing of stopping and discovering God’s goodness in your life. The rest should come naturally!
