Cowardly Heart

Beautiful people,

I found a quote by A.W. Tozer that I would like to share with you.

“Father, I want to know Thee, but my coward heart fears to give up its toys. I cannot part with them without inward bleeding, and I do not try to hide the terror of the parting from Thee. I come trembling but do come. Please root from my heart all those things which I have cherished so long and which have become a very part of my living self, so that Thou mayest enter avid dwell there without a rival. Then shalt Thou makes the place of Thy feet glorious. Then shall my heart not need of the sun to shine in it, for Thyself wilt be the light of it, and there shall be no night there. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Tozer’s prayer echoes the theme of surrender, wholehearted surrender. Life has a painful way of reminding us that we aren’t in control. Our cowardly hearts crave control and security. Unchecked, the pains of this life can migrate into the wellsprings of our soul, turning us into something God never wanted us to be—our own gods. Our heart is like a throne room, and like any respectable monarchy, only one ruler can sit on the throne. So likewise, only one ruler can sit on the throne of your heart. Let your heart know proper security and love, surrender that seat to Jesus. Its only through Jesus that surrender is translated to victory. Give your heart a break, rest on Jesus. Let your heart’s fear drown in the love of Jesus.

That's a whole lot of "lets." Ultimately, the choice is yours, friends. I just know that my life is more abundant when Jesus is King

Have a great day crowing Jesus as the King of your heart.

Listen to this song entitled King of my Heart! Great way to start the day!
