I was neither a prophet nor a prophet’s son…”         Amos 7:14

Amos was not a prima donna being groomed for a high calling in an exclusive club of God’s kingdom. And THAT was my ah-ha this morning! God does not just take the “cream of the crop,” or just the “gifted” and talented people to do His work. Just like yesterday when my verse said, “EVERYONE who called on the name of the Lord will be saved”—well, today I conclude that EVERYONE who is willing can be used by God to accomplish His plans.

Amos continues in my verse for today, “I was just a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.” Maybe he was a farmer at best, or a migrant worker in some rich person’s garden, taking care of sheep and trees! He was a sheep-sheerer and a fig-picker! “But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go prophesy to my people Israel.”

If God can use Amos, which He did, then I’m guessin’ He can use me and He can use everyone who “calls on the name of the Lord,” and is available, right where they are, to be used by Him.

Have a great day realizing your potential, no matter what your place in life,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day: “God can't lead a stationary object. Take the first step in the way you think He's leading and He will.”   Paul Opp
