“Create in me a clean heart O Lord, and renew a steadfast spirit in me.” Psalm 51:10

My first “C” text was one of my dad’s favorites and was on his list of texts we found on his desk after he died. He was an intensely practical man who loved God in and equally intense and practical way. “Why make it so hard,” he used to say. “Just love God and follow Him because the benefits far outweigh the sacrifices. He didn’t make it hard for us. WE make it hard for us. Just ‘cast your care on Him. He’ll take care of you.”

He ‘cares for me,’ He “gives me rest,” His “yoke is easy,” and His “burden is light.” If that’s not what I am experiencing then I need to look for a new picture of God.

He was celebrating the Passover with His disciples and having to wash their feet to teach them a lesson in humility, he was in the Garden of Gethsemane where He taught Himself the lesson of trust when feeling rejected by the Father, and he was brutally arrested and His trials began.
