Subject: It's April 7; Good Morning Union

Recently I have been reviewing a convenient way to retain Scripture. I learned it from my mother-in-law who was a very Godly woman who lived her simple and sincere faith right up to her death. I was blessed many times as I heard her express her almost childlike faith in Jesus. One time she was telling us about how she was memorizing a text for each letter of the alphabet. I remember my first inner response was something like, “Oh, isn’t that ‘cute’.” Until I tried it and again was blessed by what happened with this simple yet profound method of retaining God’s word.

As I have been reviewing those verses on my walks, which are currently consumed with Scripture AND searching for a stable response to the current world condition, songs started coming to my mind that would also start with the letter of the alphabet. This has never happened to me before and they came so naturally I decided to just “let go” and see where they led. I probably learned this from my mother-in-law too because she LOVED to sing!

The result has been amazing and yesterday morning on my walk, as it was happening again, I decided that this could be a theme for the remainder of my GMUs this school year. I got home, counted the days, and discovered that we have EXACTLY 26 more days that I normally write until the end of the school year! I don’t write that off as a coincidence that there also just happens to be 26 letters in our alphabet! Thank you Jesus for giving me such confirmation that the best I can offer my school family and friends, as we wrap this year up and try and wrap our minds and hearts around the pandemic so it doesn’t become a “panic-demic,” is to focus on Your promises and Your praise songs.

I also show my partiality to hymns. Though I love the praise music of today, I am equally blessed as I sing the hymns that are making a come back, (only they’re now coming back with the heart and passion of praise music!) So here we go; God’s promises to me and the songs that come to my heart as I reflect on God’s word. I would challenge you to say the verses out loud and once you realize the song, sing it to God, also out loud! Out loud so you slow down and use as many senses as possible for it to impact your heart. Now you see why I do it on my walk, when I am alone, because it’s not for anyone else’s ears; it’s just for God and me. THEN the affects, I pray, impact everything else I do, and everyone else I come in contact with for the day. SOOOO….

Today is brought to you by the letter A

All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me (says the Lord). Now go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And lo I am with you always even unto the end of the age.”            Matthew 28: 18-20

Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. For whoever asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it WILL be opened.  Matthew 7:7,8

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all the world as a testimony to all nations, and THEN shall the end come.”  Matthew 24:14

ALL I have to do is ASK. God will respond AND give me exactly what I need to fulfill His plans and His purposes in this world through me today.

I’d love to hear each day if you have other promises that begin with the daily letter, or if you have songs whose first line starts with the letter of the day!

Have a great day focusing on the promises,

Pastor Rich
