Subject: It's January 22; Good Morning "Icy and Closed" Union for Today!
So I already wrote GMU this morning and THEN checked my messages—NO SCHOOL TODAY!! ICE AND SNOW LATER. As a die-hard MinnesotaN I guess I’m a little shocked, but I guess better safe than sorry!! Be careful, don’t fall on the ice!! We’ll see you tomorrow!
“The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.” Zephaniah 3:17
First of all, thank you again for making “Feed the Kids” such a success yesterday. I WAS going to write something about “feeding the 5000” but I changed my mind. Jesus did it with 5 loaves and 2 fishes; it took us 100 people, 500 pounds of rice, 250 pounds of soy protein, and lots of high energy chicken power and dehydrated vegis but we made it!! Jesus’ was a miracle; you’re just amazing! Thanks. And now what I ended up writing:
I love this verse! It’s not just the power of the promise written above; it’s about the three illustrations the prophet uses to tell me just how personal this God is to me. He continues in verse 17:
I can just see, in my spiritual mind, my God up in heaven, already having done EVERYTHING needed by His might to save me, delighting, comforting and singing praise songs about me because “I have decided to follow Jesus.” A heavenly party just for me because He loves me and is with me every step of the way. All I can do is say thank you. I’m sure there’s a party just waiting to happen for you too!
Have a great day discovering that kind of God in your life too (and another day off!),
Pastor Rich
Quote for the Day: "Worrying is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength - carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength." Corrie ten Boom

PP..S Thanks to all who helped us with our first “Feed the Kids” event yesterday. We prepared 5894 meals for kids in orphanages and refugee camps around the world. A special thanks to Adrianna and Greg Sauder for helping me at the warehouse this morning, to the Campus Ministries’ team for helping you all know about the event, and to Jose Miguel and Paul and Sally Jenks for helping me unload everything back at the warehouse. YOU all make a REALLY big difference in the lives of 5894 little munchins somewhere in the world! NOT CANCELLED; I STILL MEAN IT!
PP..S Check out the ministry opportunity presented by Camilyn (recent graduate of Union) as she has found her calling in Oregon working with a health ministry outreach program. They are looking for volunteers for next year so check it out! They have a table in the Ortner lobby today and tomorrow. NOT SURE IF THEY EVEN MADE IT YET BUT IF THEY DID THEY MAY BE IN THE ORTNER LOBBY SO CHECK IT OUT IF YOU GO TO EAT—BUT BE CAREFUL ON THE ICE!!
