Campus family,
Thanks to a slower-than-expected decline in COVID spread and hospitals that remain full in Lincoln, our county health department has announced an extension of the mask mandate.
I understand that many of us are tired of wearing masks when inside. But we believe that masking has helped keep cases low on our campus and allowed us to continue a mostly normal school year. Thank you for continuing to wear your masks no matter how tiresome it has become!
Lincoln mask mandate extended through November 24
Union will comply with the newest Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department directed health measure announced this week and extend our mask mandate indoors through November 24. Our plan is to follow the county directed health measures and then lift the mandate on campus when the county does.

What if I get sick?
If you aren’t feeling well, please stay in your room or at home and contact Virtual Care either on the mobile app or at ucollege.edu/virtualcare. You’ll have a telehealth appointment to determine if you need to be tested for COVID and let you know what to do next. If you have additional questions, contact Campus Health at campushealth@ucollege.edu.
Employees, please stay home from work and contact Lisa Forbes in the HR office.
COVID testing available on campus
The campus COVID testing center in Rees Hall (across from Campus Health) is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m.
You will only be eligible to test if you meet the following:
- You don’t have transportation to get to another COVID-19 testing facility in the local area.
- The CDC Self-Checker guideline recommends testing upon completion of the self-survey (click here).
- A test was recommended by a provider (such as VirtualCare).
Thank you to each of you for doing your part to limit the spread of COVID and keep Union safe. Because of your efforts, we have continued to keep cases low on campus. It’s been a long journey, but let’s see this through.
Join me in prayer that the COVID crisis will soon be over and we can resume a fully normal college life and experience.
If you have more questions about Union’s COVID policies, check out ucollege.edu/covid or email covid@ucollege.edu
God bless,
Vinita Sauder
President
P.S. Based on current research, the COVID vaccine is still the best path to protecting yourself and our campus and I encourage you to make an appointment at vaccines.gov. Then upload your card to our registry at ucollege.edu/vaccine
