Campus family,
We are off to a great school year and I’m very thankful for each of you and the part you play in minimizing COVID spread and keeping our campus safe. I am grateful to only have three confirmed cases here at Union at the moment. However, we can’t let down our guard—especially as the Delta variant continues to spread among people of all ages and threatens to overload the health care system right here in Lincoln.
Mask mandate extended through September 30
Union will comply with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department directed health measure by extending our mask mandate indoors through September 30. We will reevaluate the situation at the end of the month to see if the mask mandate should continue.
Our current exceptions still apply. You don’t have to wear a mask indoors in these situations:
- In your residence hall room or alone in your office
- While eating at a table in Union Market
- While actively exercising or in the pool at Larson Lifestyle Center
- If vaccinated and participating on the court in a Warrior official practice or game
- If vaccinated and participating in certain indoor club or SA events while eating
Keeping surfaces clean
Please use the sanitization stations in each classroom to wipe down computers, desks and other high-touch surfaces between classes. I also encourage you to make sure high-touch areas in your work areas and residence hall rooms are sanitized on a daily basis.
If a classroom sanitization station needs to be restocked, please contact Lori Brasuell.
What if I get sick?
Students, Union now provides you with 24/7 access to physicians and mental health counselors through Virtual Care. If you aren’t feeling well, please stay in your room and contact Virtual Care either on the mobile app or at ucollege.edu/virtualcare. You’ll have a telehealth appointment to determine if you need to be tested for COVID and let you know what to do next. If you have additional questions, contact Campus Health at campushealth@ucollege.edu.
We will have a great school year
I love the spirit I see on campus and I know we can keep it going all semester. If you have more questions about Union’s COVID policies, check out ucollege.edu/covid or email covid@ucollege.edu.
God bless,
Vinita Sauder
President
P.S. Based on current research, I still think that the COVID vaccine is the best path to protecting yourself and our campus and I encourage you to make an appointment at vaccines.gov. Then upload your card to our registry at ucollege.edu/vaccine
