Campus family,
Here we are closing in on midterms and COVID cases remain low on campus. We believe that wearing masks indoors has played a significant role in keeping COVID from spreading. Thank you for helping take care of each other and protecting our campus community by wearing your masks.
Lincoln mask mandate extended through October 28
Union will comply with the newest Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department directed health measure announced this week and extend our mask mandate indoors through October 28. We will reevaluate the situation again at the end of October.
Our current exceptions still apply. You don’t have to wear a mask indoors in these situations:
- In your residence hall room or alone in your office
- While eating at a table in Union Market
- While actively exercising or in the pool at Larson Lifestyle Center
- If vaccinated and participating on the court in a Warrior official practice or game
- If vaccinated and participating in certain indoor club or SA events while eating
What if I get sick?
Students, Union now provides you with 24/7 access to physicians and mental health counselors through Virtual Care. If you aren’t feeling well, please stay in your room and contact Virtual Care either on the mobile app or at ucollege.edu/virtualcare. You’ll have a telehealth appointment to determine if you need to be tested for COVID and let you know what to do next. If you have additional questions, contact Campus Health at campushealth@ucollege.edu
COVID testing available on campus
The campus COVID testing center is now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. The center is located in Rees Hall across from Campus Health and the Lincoln Police Department substation.
You will only be eligible to test if you meet the following:
- You don’t have transportation to get to another COVID-19 testing facility in the local area.
- The CDC Self-Checker guideline recommends testing upon completion of the self-survey (click here).
- A test was recommended by a provider (such as VirtualCare.)
So far we have been blessed with minimal COVID cases on campus, and the COVID spread is even starting to slow in the surrounding community. These are all good signs, but hospitals here in Lincoln are still full and we can’t let down our guard just yet.
Please join me in praying that the pandemic will continue to decline and we’ll be able to get back to fully normal soon.
If you have more questions about Union’s COVID policies, check out ucollege.edu/covid or email covid@ucollege.edu
God bless,
Vinita Sauder
President
P.S. Based on current research, I still think that the COVID vaccine is the best path to protecting yourself and our campus and I encourage you to make an appointment at vaccines.gov. Then upload your card to our registry at ucollege.edu/vaccine
