Campus family,
We did it! We made it to the end of our in-person semester! I want to first give praise to God for His protection and watching over our campus, and second I have to thank our community—our faculty, staff and students who showed resilience, flexibility, and grace. You are amazing! Our numbers have actually been going down over the past couple of weeks while the virus continues to spread rapidly in the communities around us.
If you're staying or working on campus over break
- All COVID-19 protocols will remain in place throughout break—including the mask requirement in all buildings at all times (except when no guests are present in your room or your office with the door closed).
- The health check stations will not operate from November 25 - January 3. Employees, please be mindful of any symptoms or possible exposure. If you think you might be sick or exposed to COVID-19, please stay home and contact your supervisor and Human Resources immediately. You can also find more information here.
Students, if you are living on campus, you will be required to do an online daily self-check form. If you believe you might have been exposed to coronavirus or have any symptoms, please reach out to the nurse hotline at 402.937.0052 through January 3. Campus Health nurses Tammy Adams and Carol Gibson will be monitoring this hotline and returning any texts, emails, or calls between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Campus Health will reopen as usual on January 4, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.
- The COVID testing station on campus will also be closed during the holiday. Their last testing session will be today from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. We plan to reopen the station in January and will announce the hours at that time.
I hope each of you enjoy your much-deserved break and have a blessed holiday season. Even though COVID-19 continues to post challenges for Union and the world, I trust our campus family can continue to rise to the occasion and have another successful semester in the spring. I look forward to seeing everyone back on campus January 11 for the start of classes.
Blessings,
Vinita Sauder
