Campus family,
We are rapidly approaching March 30—the day we resume classes online. I hope you’ve had a chance to test out your internet speed and Zoom proficiency so you’re ready to join classes and meet with your tutors next week.
I know this transition may prove challenging. Please rest assured that we are all here to help you successfully complete your classes. If you are having problems with the new technology, check out the academic portion of our Student FAQ.
Credit for moving out of the residence halls
For students who moved out of the residence hall early, Union has finalized a plan to credit your student account with 70 percent of the prorated amount of room and meal plan left based on moving out of the residence hall at the end of spring break.
You do not need to do anything additional to “check out” of your room and trigger this credit. If you were not approved to move back into the residence hall after spring break, you will automatically be checked out even if your belongings are still in your room.
As local health officials have tightened restrictions here in Lincoln, we ask that you don’t come back to campus to retrieve your belongings right now. You need to connect with your dean to figure out the best time. If you need certain items from your room quickly, the deans may able to mail them.
Graduation
At the request of the graduating seniors, Union College will hold a virtual graduation ceremony on May 10. We’re working on creating a live interactive celebration of the Class of 2020 and we’ll be communicating more details in the near future.
Stay connected
The world is constantly changing, and we are changing with it. You can find all the latest information about how Union College is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic at ucollege.edu/covid-19
I also encourage you to watch the Union College calendar on uGroups for all the great upcoming events being planned by Campus Ministries, ASB and other departments. They will be adding events as soon as the details are finalized.
Our employees understand the value of our campus community, and I want to share this video to remind you how much we miss having you here.
I’m praying for each of you as you start classes next week
God bless,
Vinita Sauder
President, Union College
