Union family,
First, I want to remind you that all Union College information related to COVID-19 can be found on Union’s website at ucollege.edu/covid-19
Second, thank you to everyone who participated in our first round of COVID testing as you came back to campus. Already we have isolated 22 COVID cases, which allows us to better protect all of our students and employees.
Mandatory COVID testing round 2
Starting today, students and employees must test one more time. The second test is vital because the first test might have missed some cases—depending on when a person was exposed before returning.
It is very important that EVERYONE take a COVID test between Wednesday (Jan. 13) and Monday (Jan. 18). We need to make sure we have isolated as many COVID cases as possible before we can:
- Open up the Union Market dining hall.
- Resume in-person SA and other social activities.
- Resume varsity athletic practices and games.
- Potentially allow college-sponsored trips.
You are welcome to take the second COVID test at any certified testing center, but Union will be offering free testing in Woods Auditorium at the following times over the next several days. Please fill out this form to get your QR code before arriving at the testing center.
Also, our supplier for the COVID test has changed the procedure so testers only need to swab one nostril.
- Wednesday (Jan. 13)—12:00-6:00 p.m.
- Thursday (Jan. 14)—10:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
- Friday (Jan. 15)—12:00-4:00 p.m.
- Sunday (Jan. 17)—10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
- Monday (Jan. 18)—12:00-6:00 p.m.
When you receive the results of your COVID test, please upload them using the appropriate links:
Exceptions
The same exceptions will apply for the second test as the first. If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past 90 days or received at least one dose of the vaccine, you don’t need to test. Please upload your documentation using the forms noted above if you haven’t already. If you have a health-related reason for not taking the test and have not done so already, please contact the Campus Health Nurse at campushealthnurse@ucollege.edu
Note: exceptions will only be given for legitimate, health-related reasons.
Thank you for helping us keep COVID contained on our campus. We all want to continue to have in-person classes and resume many of the activities that make our community special. Working together, we can have a great semester.
Remember, all this information is also at ucollege.edu/covid-19. If you have additional questions, please contact the COVID planning team at covid@ucollege.edu
Blessings to you,
Vinita Sauder
President, Union College
