Campus family,
I hope your first couple of days of online classwork have gone well. Professors, TLC, Studio for Writing and Speaking, the Library, and the Student Success coaches and tutors are all doing their best to provide the academic support you need even though we are all separated by a computer screen.
Access to campus for village students
As we announced previously, the Union College campus is closed to the public and all buildings are now only accessible by ID card. As the city of Lincoln has mandated tighter restrictions on businesses in order to slow the spread of COVID-19, we are making two additional changes for students who live in Lincoln.
- Union Market is transitioning to only grab and go meals—the dining room will no longer be open. Check out their webpage for serving hours.
- Village students must request access to buildings—Village students, unless you work in an essential on-campus job or have a food plan at Union Market, we ask that you don’t come to campus. Your ID will not allow you into buildings unless you fill out this form requesting access. Students living in the residence halls do not need to fill out this form.
uGather virtual style + Live Q&A with Dr. Rose
uGather is back this week with 15-20 minutes of community and worship time with Campus Ministries followed by Live Q&A with Dr. Rose and friends (this is taking the place of the Thursday night Q&A). Tune in on Thursday, April 2, at 10:35 a.m. on Union's Youtube channel at youtube.com/unioncollegene. We’re not taking attendance, but we would love to “see” you there.
Stay connected with our campus community
Student Life, ASB, Campus Ministries and other departments are putting together a variety of virtual events to keep us connected while we are apart. Check out the college calendar on uGroups to find out how to join in on the worship, conversation and fun.
Here are some examples:
Need a laugh?
Ever try raw veggie meat out the can? Today Dr. Seth Pierce’s social media class released a new video showing what happens when Union students do just that. This is the first in a series the class has produced as they learn how to use social media to effectively communicate.
As you face the challenges of a different way of learning, I encourage you to remember these words of scripture, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 (NIV) Regardless of the struggles, God promises to walk with you on your quest to discover and live out His calling for your life.
Blessings to you,
Vinita Sauder
President, Union College
