“If we confess our sins, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST to forgive our sins AND to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”                   1 John 1:9

Another of dad’s favorites and mine as well. Confession is simply acknowledging. It’s not begging, it’s not bartering, it’s not anything except admitting- I did it, and I’m so sorry. I can try so many other things to atone for my mistakes; I can promise to never do it again, I can try and do more right things than wrong things so the scales tip in my favor, I can even attempt to justify my behavior. None of those things bring positive and lasting results.

John simply says, “Confess.”

“God I’m sorry, I was wrong, I did wrong.”

And the promise is amazing! I do one thing- confess, and He does two things! He not only forgives, He “cleanses from ALL unrighteousness!” And He does that “faithfully and justly.” “Faithfully,” because that’s what He is all about- wanting to bring us back into a relationship with Him. And “justly,” because His sacrifice gave Him the right to forgive and cleanse.

I confess and He takes care of ALL the rest. And all I can so is say, “Thank you.” Undeserved, unearned, but mine simply by confessing.

Have a great day experiencing the freedom that comes only from Jesus,

Pastor Rich

Quote for the day:      “Before you spread gossip about somebody’s life and their failures, remember, there are chapters of your life you probably don’t want read out loud either.”
