Campus family
You all are doing a fantastic job working hard to finish your coursework for this semester. I know that the many changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have been tough, and I have some good news about some ways we may be able to help make your lives a little easier.
Emergency relief grant
In order to help with some of the financial hardship created by COVID-19, Union has launched the Emergency Relief Grant for students. Funded by gifts from generous donors to the #UnionStrong campaign and relief funds from the federal government, this grant is designed to help students who have experienced financial hardship directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To apply, fill out the Emergency Relief Grant application form by May 15, 2020. Each student will be evaluated based on need, and the grant will be awarded for reasons such as loss of employment by either the student or a parent; personal expenses for medical care, technology, travel, housing or food; and other special circumstances.
Please fill out the form as soon as possible. We’ll begin evaluating applications on April 27, and they will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alternate grade options
Our professors have done a great job of quickly transitioning courses online, but we understand many of you have dealt with a variety of challenges—from technical problems to financial stresses to the strain of social distancing—that have impacted your ability to complete coursework to your normal standards.
Because we are committed to helping you finish the semester successfully, the Faculty Senate and the Student Senate are carefully considering several options—including the possibility of allowing students the option to choose a pass/fail grade instead of a letter grade for their classes.
If you have an opinion on an alternate grading system for this semester, please contact your Student Senate representative. We hope to have a plan finalized and published soon.
Your residence hall and Union Market credit is now available
If you moved out of the residence hall at spring break, your credit has been applied to your student account. If you have questions, please contact the Student Financial Services office at 402.486.2505 or sfs@ucollege.edu

If you have questions about this or anything else, please join us for our weekly uGather + Live Q&A today at 10:35 a.m. We’ll enjoy a worship thought by senior Matthew Mundall followed by Dr. Frankie Rose and friends answering your questions on Youtube Live.
With a little more than two weeks until finals, you are all in my prayers as you finish up your classwork. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Blessings to you,
Vinita Sauder
